Lunaris Eclipse Wall Light

Two discs mounted one in front of the other, offset so the front disc partly covers the one behind, exactly as the moon crosses the sun. The light escapes around the rim of the overlap, which produces a crescent of glow rather than a lit surface, and throws a soft halo onto the wall behind.

That halo is the reason to buy it. Most wall lights put light into a room; this one uses the wall itself as the fitting, so the effect changes depending on the colour and texture of what it is mounted on. On a pale matte wall it reads as a soft ring; on a darker or textured surface the contrast sharpens and it becomes far more graphic.

Two sizes are offered, 20 cm and 25 cm, in gold, copper, gold black, copper black and copper white, so it can be matched to existing metalwork or set deliberately against it. The LED is integrated and energy efficient. It is wall mounted and hard-wired, so have an electrician install it unless you are qualified. Dust the discs with a soft dry cloth to protect the finish.
