Lumibook Foldable Table Lamp

Closed, it is a slim wooden book. Opened, the pages fan out and light up, and because the covers swing through a full 360 degrees you can set it as a half-open book on a desk, a full cylinder on a shelf, or fold it back on itself and hang it from the strap. The shape you choose changes the shape of the light, which is a rare thing for a lamp to offer.

Inside, LEDs run along the folded leaves of tear-resistant paper, giving a warm glow that spreads evenly rather than pointing anywhere in particular. Three colour modes cover warm, cool and natural white, so it can be a bedside reader at night or a neutral desk light during the day. A charge lasts up to eight hours and it runs cordless, so it moves from room to room, out to a garden table, or into a bag.

Three sizes are offered in wood or brown finishes, from a small 10 cm version up to a 22 cm one that throws noticeably more light. Recharge it from the included USB cable. Keep the paper leaves dry and handle them by the covers rather than the pages.
