Half-Circle Mosaic Door Mat

A semicircular doormat printed with a cobblestone mosaic, made to sit neatly against a front door, a back step or the threshold of a balcony. The stone-effect pattern hides the dust and grit a doormat is supposed to collect, so it stays looking presentable far longer between cleans than a plain flat-weave mat would.

The polyester pile is dense enough to take shoes scraped across it daily and soft enough to be comfortable in bare feet, which matters more than you would expect at a back door in summer. A rubberised non-slip backing grips tiles, laminate, stone and decking, so the mat stays where it is put rather than creeping forward every time the door swings over it. Two sizes cover most standard British doorways.

It works indoors and out: a front entrance, a patio door, a kitchen threshold or a laundry room all suit it. Shake it out, run a vacuum over it, or hand wash and dry it flat. Being rounded on one side rather than square, it softens a doorway that would otherwise look very rectangular.
