Nordic Wooden Desk Lamp

Rubberwood base and stem carrying a coloured metal shade, a pairing that has defined Scandinavian table lighting for decades because it works: the wood warms up the metal, and the metal stops the wood looking rustic. At 45 cm tall on a 15 cm base it has the proportions of a proper reading lamp rather than a novelty accent.

The shade tilts, so light can be aimed down onto a page, angled across a desk or turned up to bounce off a ceiling for softer ambient light. That single adjustment is what makes one lamp cover reading, working and winding down. The shade also screens the bulb from view at normal sitting height, which keeps glare out of the eyeline.

It takes a standard E27 bulb, not included, so the light colour is your choice; a warm white bulb suits a bedside, a neutral or cool one suits a desk. A button on the base controls it. Five shade colours are offered: white, green, yellow, pink and black. Wipe the wood with a dry cloth and let the bulb cool before handling.
