A frosted glass globe held in a polished metal arm, 32 cm across and projecting 15 cm from the wall. It is about as close to a default good wall light as you can get: no motif, no colour, nothing that will look dated in five years, just a clean metal line and a soft sphere of light.
The ivory frosted glass is what does the work. It hides the bulb entirely, so there is no filament visible from a bed or a bath, and the light comes out evenly on all sides rather than in a beam. That makes it one of the few sconces that suits a bathroom as readily as a bedroom, and a pair either side of a mirror gives flat, shadow-free light on a face.
The globe detaches for cleaning, which is worth having in a bathroom. It takes a G9 bulb, not included, so you choose warm or neutral white, and runs at 110 to 240 V on a wall switch. Two finishes are offered, black and gold. Mounting hardware is included, but it is hard-wired, so have a qualified electrician install it, particularly in a bathroom where zone regulations apply.
