Coloured Glass Ball Pendant Light

A simple glass sphere on a brass-detailed fitting, offered in 15 cm and 20 cm diameters. The shape does the work: a sphere diffuses light evenly in every direction, so there is no bright underside and no hard shadow line, which is why it has remained a staple of Nordic lighting for decades.

The glass is tinted through rather than coated, in smoke grey, brown, blue or red, so each colour changes the quality of the light as well as the look of the fitting. Smoke grey softens output to something dusky, brown warms it, blue and red push it toward a deliberate accent.

Both sizes work as a single pendant, but the real trick is a cluster: three or five at staggered heights over a dining table or an island gives far more character than one large fitting. The cable is adjustable, and it takes an E27 bulb, not included, at 5 to 40 W. Ceiling mounted and hard-wired at AC 85 to 265 V, so have a qualified electrician install it.
