The glass diffuser is the part that matters in use. It spreads the light without hiding it, so you get a genuinely usable pool on the ground below rather than a decorative glow, which makes this a better choice than a solid-bodied sconce for a back door, a workshop entrance or a passage where you actually need to see. The frame is waterproof rated and finished to resist corrosion.

It works singly over a door, in pairs flanking a garage, or repeated along a courtyard wall at even spacing. Mount it high enough that the glass is above the eye line, as an industrial fitting with a clear diffuser will dazzle at head height. Clean the glass a couple of times a year. This is a mains-wired fixture: have it installed and connected by a qualified electrician.
