Outdoor Chair Cushion Seat Pad

Garden furniture is almost always harder to sit on than it looks. This one-piece cushion covers seat and back in a single 45 x 85 cm pad, tied at the top and the waist so it stays put on a slatted chair rather than sliding forward every time somebody leans back. On a hard patio dining chair it turns a twenty-minute sit into a long lunch.

The cover is a tight polyester weave, chosen because it dries quickly after a shower and holds its colour through a season in full sun far better than cotton. The filling is resilient enough to keep its loft rather than flattening into a pancake by August. Spills wipe off the surface, and the whole cushion can be sponged down or, on most models, unzipped for washing.

Six colours are available, brown, light brown, green, yellow, grey and blue, so a mismatched set of chairs can be pulled together or a wooden set given some contrast. It fits standard patio, dining, garden and conservatory chairs. Bring cushions in or store them in a box when rain is forecast and over winter; leaving them out through the wet months is what ruins them.
