Rippled Glass Disc Wall Sconce

A thick glass disc mounted flat against the wall on a slim metal base, 24 cm across and projecting 20 cm. The glass is rippled rather than smooth, so the surface catches light in irregular bands and the fitting has something to look at even before it is switched on.

Three finishes change its character completely. Cognac gives a warm amber cast that suits panelled or timber-heavy rooms. Smoke grey mutes the output to something moodier. Frosted white diffuses the bulb entirely for the softest, most even glow of the three.

The round disc form projects less than a shaded sconce, so it works in a narrow hallway or beside a bed where anything bulkier would be in the way. It takes an E26 bulb, not included, so you set the warmth, and accepts LED, incandescent or fluorescent. Mounted in pairs either side of a bed or a mirror is where this style earns its keep. Hard-wired at 110 to 240 V, so have a qualified electrician install it.
