Corduroy Striped Cushion Covers

Cushion covers in corduroy, which is an underrated fabric for soft furnishings. The wale, the raised ridge running through the pile, catches light along its length, so a plain-coloured cushion still has depth and shadow instead of reading as a flat block of colour on a sofa.

The pile is short and dense, so it feels soft without being fluffy, and it wears far better than velvet on a seat that gets daily use. A cross-stitch splicing detail runs across the face, breaking up the surface and giving the cover a made rather than manufactured look.

Nine colours are offered, from dark grey and beige through to green, pink and wine red, so a set can be built tonally or deliberately mixed. They measure 45 by 45 cm, the standard size, and the cover has a concealed zip so nothing interrupts the front. Inserts are not included. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle; do not bleach or iron, as heat will crush the pile.
